EVERYDAY SKINCARE ROUTINE

Everyday Skincare Routine

Let's get personal. I have normal to dry skin and I’ve never dealt with major acne apart from an occasional pimple here and there. Nevertheless, I am always extremely careful about the products I use on my skin, which is why I gravitate towards using and promoting the gentlest products to cleanse and hydrate skin. I steer clear of any scented lotions or cleansers and I always check the label for wacky, harmful chemicals.

You might think with these expectations I could only use high-end, organic, expensive facial products. Well, if you’ve got a hat you better hold on to it because my go-to everyday skincare products will blow you away – you’re welcome for that nerdy, yet appropriate phrasing.

If I can be so bold – there’s really nothing stopping me from being bold anyway - cleansers are the most important part of everyone’s skincare routine. Using a gentle cleanser at the end of the night is crucial to keeping skin healthy and youthful. It’s important to have a quality facial cleanser that is gentle on the skin, especially if you are using it every night.

Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser leaves the skin feeling fresh and clean without dryness or irritated pores. Cetaphil’s cleanser is low lathering, which means the product won’t strip the skin of any natural oils. I have used Cetaphil’s cleanser for years and don’t see myself switching to another product anytime soon – but don’t hold me to that because I’m an ever-evolving young woman. You can purchase Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser at your local Target, Ulta, RiteAid, CVS, etc.

I always pair the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser with my Clarisonic Facial Cleansing Brush. I know a lot of people have mixed reviews on the Clarisonic, but my skin reacts really well to the brush and I find it works well to remove my face makeup at the end of the night. If you want an alternative facial cleansing tool that is gentler on the skin, I recommend checking out the Foreo Luna Skin Cleansing System.

I know you are all beautifully intelligent individuals who already understand the importance of moisturizing… but I’m going to sound the broken record anyway. It is so, so, so important to keep skin hydrated with moisture, especially in the wintertime.

CeraVe’s Moisturizing Lotion and Moisturizing Cream are gentle and hydrating on the skin while helping to reduce premature wrinkles and aging. The moisturizers are also my go-to if I have a pimple under the surface of my skin (pro tip: never pick a pimple but instead apply a generous amount of moisturizer overnight and watch as the pimple disappears). I swear by CeraVe’s moisturizers because they are affordable, available, and work for many different skin types. You can purchase CeraVe’s moisturizers at your local Target, Ulta, RiteAid, CVS, etc.

I did not feature a photo of CeraVe’s Eye Repair Cream but it works wonders! I’ve used the CeraVe’s under-eye cream for over a year and I can really see the difference (the product also lasts forever). Your girl never gets enough sleep, so the eye cream comes in handy for dark circles and puffiness.

As for the final steps of my everyday skincare routine, I apply a small amount of dry lotion to any surface pimple using a Q-Tip. Drying lotion’s job is in its name – it helps to dry surface pimples overnight. In the morning, just be sure to use a cleanser to wash it off.

AcneFree’s Drying Lotion is the knock-off brand of Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion. I’ve used Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion for years, but AcneFree’s Drying Lotion works just the same… and for a better price. You really can’t go wrong with either brand!
